The City of Sydney has commissioned 8 Red Room Company poets to create 8 poems for digital projection onto the AMP Building at Circular Quay as part of the of Sydney ‘s major visual arts festival, Art & About (2 – 21 October 2007).
The time capsule:
As part of this project Red Room wil making a time capsule which will store each of the 8 poets' predictions for poetry in 2030.
These visions will be recorded alongside an interview featuring the 8 poets discussng their experiences of making these poems.
The poets' predictions for the future
will be digitally stored until 2030
when it will be released to the world.
Poem process:
Each poet was assigned a primary school class in the City of Sydney.
At each school one class (from K-6) shared their vision of Sydney 2030 with the poet.
During the class time the poet workshopped a poem and using the ideas, language and imaginations of the class took the poem home and re worked it into five lines, which are the final poem projected.
Each poem was a collaborative exercise and will be jointly authored by children as guided by the poet.
