What is the Audio & Text Index?

The Audio & Text Index is a comprehensive collection of interviews and performances by Australian poets who have starred in Red Room Company projects.

The Index includes poet and project crew biographies, and details about our community radio broadcasts and pod-casts. Our pod-casts bring together poetry and material from our current Red Room Project, most recently, our Summer Series.

Red Room audio projects produce imaginative work for national community radio broadcast, via the community radio satellite, and continue to reach listeners who explore poetry on line, via pod casts and text on our site.

Al projects are recorded in a secret studio space in Chippendale, NSW. The poems and interviews are then edited and placed on line or sent to our radio broadcasters and automatically archived in the Audio & Text Index for you to explore for free and, forever.

Our index is updated on a regular basis by volunteers.

The Audio & Text Index evolved out of Red Room Radio projects and our audio work on community radio stations, in production since 2001. By making use of online broadcasts in combination with community radio broadcasts and distribution of our work on CD, it will engage new and broader audiences with contemporary poetry that it unique, high quality and bold.

We trailed pod-casting in our 2006 Poetry Picture Show Project and with new support from Arts NSW can run our Index, pod casts and on line audio works to more audiences and with greater efficiency and frequency.

History Red Room Radio

The Red Room Company grew out of a small community radio show, ‘Red Room Radio,’ which first broadcast on 89.7 fm eastside radio in 2001. Due to popular demand we expanded to a national audience shortly afterwards.

The Red Room Radio show and The Red Room Epic Project were awarded the prestigious ‘Best New innovative radio program’ at the 2002 National Community Radio awards run by the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia

In 2005 Red Room Radio broadcast Poetry Crimes through the satellite. On the final Sunday of each month at 4pm, Red Room Radio partnered with 'Ozwrite' through Artsound FM in Canberra (92.7).

Our 2006 projects, Toilet Door Poetry and The Cabinet of Lost and Found were broadcast in special features in May 2006 and August 2006 respectively.

Future Community Radio Broadcasts

Our next broadcast will be in the second run of our Summer Series.
